Spring 2018: Quakie has two drakes

DSCN9829Quakie returned this year in early March, with two drakes in tow. We recognised one as Frankie III, her drake from last year whom we saw her last with in November.  The new drake, whom we named Georgie, has a white bib which easily differentiates him from Frankie.

dscn9832.jpgThe two drakes seem to tolerate each other fairly well, but once the mating season is well under way I am not sure they will be still so friendly to each other!dscn9825.jpg

  1. Thoroughly enjoyed reading all of your posts about raising your mallards. I’m currently raising 5 mallards, 6 ½ weeks old now, that were abandoned after the nest was attacked by a skunk. I too, had one with a leg injury, which healed by itself in a week. Again, thank you, it was very informative and helps me understand a bit about my own mallard-raising experience.
